When you volunteer at the Ronald McDonald House of Western Michigan, you’re joining a group of people who share one goal: to create a comfortable place for families to stay together while their children are in the hospital. By doing one small part to create a warm, welcoming environment, you are a bright spot to families as they go through an incredibly tough time. The services of the Ronald McDonald House of Western Michigan are made possible by people like you.
Volunteers at the Ronald McDonald see the opportunity to serve our families as a privilege and not a chore. Last year, Kathy Comperchio completed over 260 hours of volunteer service. When asked why, she said, “I love the fact that we have a Ronald McDonald House in Grand Rapids for families when their children are being treated in the hospital. It really is the house that love built.” 20 year volunteer Louise Fabeck added, “You know, maybe you had a bad day, but you come to the house and you see these children struggling against all odds and you think ‘wow, they are doing it in light of such hardship’; it is a very humbling experience. It has also been a healing experience for me.”
The House provides opportunities for persons with all capabilities and availabilities. For persons looking to volunteer on a regular basis at the Ronald McDonald House, we offer House Warmer and Shuttle Driver positions. For those with limited time, our Merry Meals, Crazy Cookies, and Dairy Delights programs are just for you!
